Twinkie Taste Testers

So I don’t think it’s become quite evident on my blog yet that kor and I LOVE to find local and free events to get involved in. We’ve become pretty good and tracking our favorite fitness studios to find and sign up for the community free classes and keep our peepers pealed for community events at our favorite local shops and restaurants. Now that we are fully immersed in the holiday season, there seems to be no shortage of options floating around.

This past Friyay, a local bakehouse that’s near my house named Wild Love Bakehouse was hosting their free holiday menu tasting. Yes, you read that right…FREE. The owners (a lovely husband and wife, who also own Old City Java and Pearl on Union) and their staff prepped goodies on goodies on goodies for anyone to enjoy from 5pm to 8pm. I bolted out of work and jetted down the road to snag a parking spot and wait for kor. Once she arrived, we pounced on the options grabbing pretty much 1 of everything.

I am a die-hard cold brew coffee fan but strangely crave a good cup of hot coffee or coffee bevvie with dessert if it’s a special dessert, so I ordered a delicious cappuccino and kor ordered a cafe au lait.To my surprise, D was able to make it too! He had an appointment after work so I wasn’t sure if he’d be able to swing by but he did so we had a wonderful time. I do wish my brother-in-law, Matt, could part-take but unfortunately with Celiac’s, it’s sometimes not an option. It does seem that the industry is working to be more food allergy friendly so I hope it continues to open up options for him.*note: I tried to do topsy braids butttt they just look kind of dumb…I think I need dark colored small hair bands? ha*

On Saturday, D and I enjoyed spending time with our family to have my niece’s 3rd birthday party. It was originally scheduled for October 27th but the poor baby came down with a nasty virus that then turned into a double ear infection last week. Tis the season. Fortunately she felt much better and Let it Go at her Frozen themed party.

Afterwards, D and I spent time with our sweet Axl Rose before heading downtown for our homecoming Vols game. It was fall weather perfection and we enjoyed being in Neyland (!) but decided to head home at the start of halftime because Axl has been having what we think is a bout of anxiety lately. Last week, he shredded my faux decorative pumpkins (it was a massacre and I almost cried….I loved my little pumpkins) and Friday destroyed D’s house shoes. He is such a good pup and *never* does stuff like that so while I was highly upset, I am also a little concerned as to why he’s acting out. Thankfully when we arrived home on Saturday, he was totes fine as was the house and we made sure to snuggle hard.I mean, he definitely gave 100% effort to the destruction…lol Also note the couch cushion. He makes sure to get very comfy on top of the couch causing our back cushions to sag and look sad….good thing he’s cute! But just look at that face! *all the heart eyes*

After catching some of the other games on TV (I poured a lot of energy into rooting for LSU against Bama but they let me down hardcore…) we flipped on Making a Murderer 2. Any of y’all watch this series? It’s insane! My heart breaks so much for Steven Avery’s parents. Just truly a tragic story all around. I’m intrigued as to what unfolds as time goes on.

Sunday was a pretty low-key day: elected for our insurance (yay adulting), cleaned, and then took Axl to a new dog park in Knoxville. It’s a little bit of a drive from our house but worth it because it’s very picturesque and so large! He made several friends and seemed to have a blast. Please let me know if you did anything fun this past weekend! Also, please feel free to give new Netflix or Hulu show options because D and I need a new show to binge.

I’ll leave you with these fall photos I took and hope they make you as happy as they do me. 🙂

  2. Y’all seriously find THE best events!! And the fact that they are free is just too cool. This bakehouse looks amazing- I love that it is run by a husband and wife. How special! What! I love your braids- I don’t think they look dumb at all! Oh man, Axl- coming in the kill haha- but seriously how could you ever be upset with that face?! We haven’t watched Making A Murdered 2 yet- but we plan on it soon! We binged the first season- so good. Always love your pictures! xo

    1. I love having community events! It helps that kor and I both stalk pages so we have double the eyes out there to spot places to go!

It really is! Fun fact, the husband went to my high school about 10 or so years before I went there!

Aww thank you! I’m having fun learning new ways to do my hair since it’s long (this is the first time I’ve had long hair since high school!). I just taught myself how to do a fishtail braid yesterday. I turned 30 and basically now I’m unstoppable with new “tricks”. hahahaha

It’s SO hard to get upset because he’s so darn cute and works those puppy eyes! I was so so sad about the destruction but more so sad he was seemingly upset so I’m glad he’s better! *KNOCK ON WOOD* D reminded me I had actually just commented on how he had left the pumpkins alone so I must’ve jinxed it. oops!

Gosh season 2 was intense!! My mind raced through it all and I just don’t really know what to believe, ya know? I don’t think Steven or Brendan did it, but it also just seems highly complicated and there are SO many people involved. D and I were pretty shocked with how the legal system operated for this case and just the crazy process.

      Thanks doll!

      1. Teach me a fishtail!!! That’s awesomeeee. Haha – I hear 30s are the golden years.

Ahhhhh I am dying to watch it now. As soon as we finish Haunting of Hill House we are going straight to that. DJ has Monday off so I’m going to try to get my assignments done early (or at least a good chunk in them) so we can binge. So excited!!!
